Siliguri - the gateway of North-Eastern India

Situated beautifully among the surrounding beautiful greenery and blessed with the beautiful Mahananda River, Siliguri is definitely the gateway of the North East as it is the primary hub of all tourist destinations. The town and the Dooars Terai region also shares International borders with Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and is quite close to the border of China too. Siliguri The places of interest in the town include -

Bidhan Market – A shopper's paradise that serves the zest for shopping and here, you will get what you need or want.

North Bengal Science Centre – This is a unit of the National council of science museums. At a distance of about 6 km from the town located on the national highway, the science centre is spread over 10 acres of land and attracts tourists and locals equally due to its popular science gallery.

Mahananda Wild Life Sanctuary – The sanctuary is located in the city outskirts. The entry point to the sanctuary has a Forest museum. Tourists may visit Gulma khola inside the forests during the day.

Madhuban Park – The Park is located at a distance of about 15 km from the city. It is maintained by the Indian Army and attracts picnickers from the city.

Siliguri Park – Located on the Mahananda river bed, it is one of the most common places for the city dwellers to spend a lovely time.

Dooars - the gateway to Bhutan

The word Dooars is said to have been derived from the word "Door" as this is the gateway to the entire north east India and Bhutan. The main attraction of Dooars is its forests and tea gardens. The region has several National Parks, Sanctuaries and Reserve forests for the tourists to explore. This includes Jaldapara Wild Life Sactuary famous for its one horned rhinos, Gorumara National Park, Buxa Tiger Reserve and many others.

Dooars The region also has rich historical and cultural diversity to attract the tourists. The tourism potential of the region has been explored only recently and already this region has become a major tourist hub.
